Tiny Pop to Return to the Airwaves

Children’s channel Tiny Pop is to return to traditional broadcasts this month, after converting to streaming only back in March. Sister channel Great Real, which took over bandwith used to transmit Tiny Pop, is closing down after an existence of less than 6 months.

Both channels are owned by Narrative Entertainment, who run a small portfolio of free to air channels, with either ‘Great!’ or ‘Pop’ branding. The former is largely a series of movie channels, with the latter focussing on children’s programmes.

Great Real was available on both Freeview (terrestrial) and Sky (both satellite and Sky Stream), but was not included in the Freesat EPG, following Narrative Entertainment’s decision to withdraw from that platform. Tiny Pop will return on Freeview and Sky (including Sky Stream), and it’s understood some porgramming from Great Real will move to the Great Action channel, which has previously been dedicated to films.

Great Real was, following the main Great TV branded channel, the second non childrens or movie channels in Narrative Entertainment’s portfolio, and represented an expansion into more general programming. Shows were unscripted, largely of an observational documentary format.
